Why I Don't Haul Drugstore Products Anymore

This goes hand in hand with my blog about why I buy MAC products. I know a lot of my readers request that I write reviews on drugstore products, but other than mascaras, I have actually avoided drugstore products in general. I find that I have spent WAY TOO MUCH money on drugstore products that end up sitting in my drawers because their performance was less than subpar. Then I realized that the amount I spent on those products, I could've gotten something from MAC that I know that I would give more of my attention to. Or that the amount I spent on trying to find a good dupe to a certain MAC product, I could've used that money and just gotten the ACTUAL product. I'm not saying there doesn't exist superior drugstore products -- Quo makes some GREAT quality brushes and (some) L'oreal HIP shadows are really nice (another product trying to be MAC dupes -- "HIP" : another three-letter line… coincidence?) and of course NYX products -- which has a pretty impressive line in general…
but yes… that's why I don't really haul drugstore products anymore -- so I apologize to those who wanted me to haul/review them...
I'm not swearing them off forever -- but I probably won't be making any drugstore purchases unless something REALLY appeals to me.
With that said, I do have reviews coming up on the Revlon Matte Lipsticks in Nude Attitude and Pink Pout.

Makes total sense, and I agree with you. i too have spent an obscene amount of money trying to find great drugstore makeup, but have come up short more often than not. i'd rather save my money and buy te real deal. And sometimes the drugstore brands have too much of something that breaks me out.

I completely agree. I buy makeup to pamper myself... so I would rather splurge a little more for something that will make me really happy.

lol...I totally feel you! Yesterday, I was cleaning out old makeup and I threw away at least $100 worth of drugstore products that was just laying there in my storage. I kinda stopped buying drugstore makeup too unless it's something I really want. I still do have some drugstore favourites like Annabelle lipliners and eyeliners which work very well for me. Also, I do like Maybelline and Loreal Mascaras too. I only own 2 Nyx trios and 1 Nyx single eyeshadow and that's it. I don't have plans on getting more either. I love Posh brushes too after Mac! =D I find them better than CoastalScents!

Omg! I completely agree with you 100% Well.. not saying I don't use drugstore, but I only buy drugstore if the product really appeals and if I think it's worth it. Other than that, I'm looking more towards the higher end products now (esp with skincare)

Hi there,
I'm new to your blog. Really like it.
Agree with you regarding drug store hauling though I've recently discovered GOSH cosmetics at Shoppers. Loving the pencil liners.

It sounds wierd to say that you would only buy name brand stuff to save money, but in the end its true. I used to be really really cheap about makeup and skincare (I really didn't have the money to begin with) and I had really bad acne and I was constantly buying cheap skincare and makeup from drugstores. Of course none of it worked and I always ended up throwing it away and getting something else that ruined my skin as well. I did the math and I spent over $400 in one year on this cheap crap that I ended up throwing away! Now I only use good brands like Shiseido and I save so much money buying something I know is good. No more cheap yucky foundations! And no more acne!
